The average life expectancy is increasing worldwide and the prevalence of dementia
is expected to increase exponentially. Recently, some studies have suggested a decrease
in incident cases of dementia. It is unclear if this decline is similar in the oldest
age group. The aim of this study is to examine whether there has been a change in
the incidence of dementia in 85 year olds followed until age 90, comparing two cohorts
born 22 years apart.
